BAMER Specialist Advocate
Hopscotch Asian Women’s Centre is delighted to be a partner organisation in this innovative cross-borough project, funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government. We are looking for experienced, dynamic BAMER Specialist Advocate (preferably Bengali/Sylheti speaking) to join our team with a specific remit to reach and support women facing multiple disadvantage and create awareness of issues that affect BAMER women facing multiple and severe disadvantage. You will be expected to work intensively with service users as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating extensively with external agencies.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the intersection between severe and multiple disadvantage and VAWG, a strong understanding of how this can make it difficult for women to engage with support and an ability to reflect on your own practice. You will have worked with people experiencing various aspects of severe and multiple disadvantage: homelessness, substance use, mental health issues, insecure immigration status, prostitution, offending history and children taken into care.
For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Nezahat Cihan, Director on 020 7388 8198. For all other details and an application pack you can also contact Ruksana Begum, HR Administrator on 020 7388 8198 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not send CVs as they will not be considered.
