Hopscotch was set up in 1979 by Save the Children as a support centre for homeless Bangladeshi and Asian families in Camden.The organisation became independent in 1998. Since then it has been providing information and advice, support and advocacy, education and training to Asian women and their families in Camden. Mission Statement: Hopscotch will work with Asian women and their families so they feel empowered to actively participate in society and make informed decisions that enable them to achieve their aspirations. Strategic Aims: Hopscotch’s Strategic Aims are to:
- Improve the physical and mental health and overall wellbeing of Asian women and their families
- Reduce the risk of violence and abuse experienced by Asian women and children in the home and in the wider community
- Increase the understanding and value of educational achievement and involved parenting within Asian families
- Increase the civic participation of Asian women, enabling them to have a greater voice and make a contribution to their communities
- Give Asian women the knowledge to make informed choices that enable them to be economically self-sufficient
- Build an effective and robust organisation that meets the needs of its partners and stakeholders
